The mountain giant

WHERE DOES THE MOUNTAIN DANTA LIVE IN COLOMBIA?

Until now, the Colombian Tapir Conservation initiative (CTC) has managed to gather about 370 records of the Mountain Tapir ( Tapirus pinchaque ) In colombia; These records indicate that the species is only distributed in the Central Cordillera between 1484 and 4009 meters. To date, there is no true evidence of the presence of the species in the Eastern and Western mountain ranges.

In the Central mountain range, the Mountain Danta is distributed from the middle part of said mountain range (in the surroundings of the Los Nevados National Natural Park), towards the south with limits with the equator. There appears to be a local extinction of the species in the extreme north of the Cordillera Central.
